I know that about 1958. And I would be fine with it somewhere in a uniform. But, not in a psychedelic mitt. If they want to celebrate the summer of love there are ways to do it.
I am fine with the purple on the caps (might even buy one when we are down there for a couple Dodger games in September) and definitely appreciate Lee's high stockings. But 58 on the psychedelic glove makes no sense.
You are younger than I am so maybe you don't know that purple windowpane sounds like LSD. Or maybe this was a sly reference to see who's paying attention and old enough to catch it. There was definitely Purple Owsley and there was definitely windowpane acid. There was also Orange Sunshine, but that's a whole other trip.
Do it in a way that makes sense, that is.

it's because that's the year they moved to SF. ‘68 would be more appropriate, but not franchise correct.

Great Gatsby, Chase Center Changes, Know Nothing Nomads, Bruce Bochy, Brooklyn Bums--the alliterative edition of the Sporadic Sentinel.
If the Giants seek to capture the vibe of the music of San Francisco, a patch of Bill Graham might be appropriate...the uniforms are cool, though!
